Physically signs of menopause
Menopause affects a woman both physically and mentally. When you begin to notice the signs of menopause, either you’ll suspect the approach of menopause on your own, or your doctor will put two and two together when you report your symptoms. As we age, skin cells don’t turn over as fast as they used to, and new cells don’t grow as quickly, either. Menopause or the “change of life” affects each woman in a different way.
Typical menopause symptoms, such as hot flashes or night sweats, are caused by changing hormonal levels in the female reproductive system. The natural lubrication that lines the vaginal walls and that is increased upon sexual arousal can be depleted during menopause. However, the most important test used to diagnose premature menopause is a blood test that measures follicle stimulating hormone (FSH).
